University of Music and Performing Arts,
Vienna (mdw)

The mdw is one of the world's oldest and largest universities of music, drama, and film, with over 800 staff and 3000 students. Its famous teachers and alumni have included Gustav Mahler, Anton Bruckner, Max Reinhardt, Claudio Abbado, Mariss Jansons, and Zubin Metha, to name but a few.

The University's downtown campus is situated in the heart of Vienna, just minutes away from the Wiener Staatsoper, Musikverein, and Konzerthaus. It combines the historic flair of early 19th century architecture and landscaping with modern technology and facilities.

The mdw hosts ten research institutes, including the Institute of Music Acoustics, as well as the Max Reinhardt Seminar for drama, the Vienna Film Academy, and the Arnold Schönberg Center. See for further information.
