Research Assistant / Project Officer
Katey Warran is Project Officer and Research Assistant in the Centre for Performance Science at the Royal College of Music. She coordinates and supports research as part of the Sing with Us project, looking at the psychological benefits of singing for people affected by cancer, and exploring whether the biological changes noted in pilot studies can be sustained over time. One of her key roles is to recruit participants to sing at one of two choirs in London, led by Tenovus Cancer Care. She also has an MSc in Performance Science from the Royal College of Music.
Previously, Katey worked for CW+ (the charity for Chelsea and Westminster Hospital) where she managed a programme of over 700 performing arts events per year to improve patient experience and achieve clinical outcomes. In addition to leading on the delivery of the programme, the role entailed supporting research and evaluation, for example ArtsObS (a non-invasive evaluation tool for use in hospital settings).
Katey has extensive experience in arts project management, marketing, and theatre production, as well as a passion for singing and playing the flute.
